Mission and Vision

We provide research to policymakers, public and private sector clients, and the community to encourage evidence-informed practices to promote a fair and effective justice system. CRG works to strengthen the justice system to reduce and prevent crime, reduce recidivism, achieve safer and healthier communities, and ensure fairness, justice, and equal treatment under the law.

Our Work

At Crime Research Group, we work closely with our clients to develop goals and a work plan for each project as well as determining the level of participation you, as the client, would like to have. Some clients prefer to have significant input at every stage, while others prefer to be kept informed occasionally.

Strategic Plan FY2022 - 2027

Strategies:

1.1 Promote the use of data, research, and information to increase the effectiveness of criminal justice and human services initiatives.

1.2 Develop and encourage continuous improvement of policies and practices through research and evaluation.

1.3 Communicate timely research about effective programs, strategies, and initiatives to the justice and human service communities.

1.4 Develop a relevant communication plan using a variety of modalities aligned with stakeholder and community preferences.

Strategies:

2.1 Assist the justice community, human services, and the public to access, share, and use data in decision-making.

2.2 Serve as a resource for the most promising data-driven, evidence-based practices that help government agencies and communities make efficient use of limited resources.

2.3 Develop training and technical assistance for collecting and using data to inform decision-making and facilitate future research.

2.4 Respond to data requests.

2.5 Assist the justice and human service stakeholders, policy makers, and the community to access, share, and use data.

2.6 Conduct evaluations to assess the achievement of stated outcomes.

2.7 Encourage partnerships and collaborations across all levels of government, nonprofit organizations, academic institutions, and the advocacy community in policy development, grant solicitations, grant programs, and training and technical assistance.

2.8 Conduct research and evaluations that address pressing issues in Vermont and contribute to discussions about public policy.

2.9 Build trust and maintain credibility with stakeholders to establish CRG as the leading research organization in the criminal justice and human service fields.
